babe it's time we give something new a try

The record is tied, Bonds hit number 755 tonight. But how beautiful is it that hope for redemption bloomed in the same afternoon, as Alex Rodriguez hit his 500th at the age of 32, well ahead of Bonds for his age?

I think Bonds is an asshole, and there are good arguments for his guilt, but I'm still impressed by his achievement. But there were fans at Petco Park tonight holding signs bearing huge asterisks - a stroke of genius - and theres's no getting around the fact that the taint of his new record, when it happens, will always overshadow the record itself.

So here comes A-Rod to save the day, or at least we can hope. If all goes well, we won't have to live with this one very long, and the history books won't spend too much time on it either.

Let's Go Yankees.

It'll be interesting to see what the reaction is if/when A-Rod breaks the record. He doesn't seem very well-liked even by a lot of Yankees fans, so I wonder how excited people will get by it.

Depends on what happens with what teams between now and then, I guess...
