i'm a recent discover of Elliott Smith, and highly recommend "either/or" I love, love the song "Rose Parade". "Figure 8" was the first one I got - excellent as well.

There's two different kinds of Elliott Smith, really. If you want the kind that's just acoustic guitar and vocals, go with Either/Or. But I got to love him through XO, which was his first major label record and much more highly produced, with full band on every cut. It's an incredible record.
